Common Questions

  • How do I contact the club?
Use the form on the Contact Us page to send off an email or contact Martin our President by the phone number or email address given at the bottom of the Home page.
  • How do I find out more about the club?
Hopefully this web site will provide plenty of information about the Hamilton Marathon Clinic. But the best way is to check us out. So why not come along to one of our Sunday morning (7.30am) or Tuesday evening (5.30pm) runs/walks. You will be welcomed and looked after.
The club offers a free four week trial membership.
  • How much does membership cost?
The membership fee for the 2014-2015 year is $70.
Click on the link at the top of the Home Page for a Membership Form.
  • Where and when does the club meet?
Check out the Our Meetings section on the About Us page. There is a map showing our exact location on the Contact Us page.
  • Does the club organise any competitions?
During the year we have our club championships over 5km, 10km, 15km and half marathon distances.
At the start of the year we organise the Blueberry Fun Run and Walk as part of a Summer Series of events. There are 5km, 10km and 15km distances for both runners and walkers in this event.
The dates and details of all these events will be listed on the Events page as soon as they have been determined.
  • How fit do I need to be before coming along to the club?
A reasonable level of fitness is desirable but we can cater for most abilities.
There are several groups of runners and walkers and these groups will have different paces and cover different distances. The club will find a group that should suit you.
It is worth appreciating that most of our members were well below their current level of fitness when they joined the club. Running or walking with others will motivate you to put in some extra runs or walks between club sessions. This will develop your strength and stamina.
  • What social activities does the club organise?
A lot of socialising occurs out on our runs and walks. There is also tea and coffee available in the club rooms after the Tuesday and Sunday meetings.
On the first Tuesday of each month a 'club meal' is provided after the evening run/walk. This is a great opportunity to meet other club members.
Each December a mystery Christmas run/walk, somewhere in the Waikato, is organsied. This interesting run/walk is followed by a great Christmas meal and presents for all.
Groups from the club also travel to specific events, both in New Zealand and overseas.
